woods & woods a/w07

I realized today that a runway show is such a poor medium to showcase clothing. With the models darting through the runway on their inhumanly long legs, there is hardly anytime to observe the intricate details and textures on the garments and even less time to contemplate the points of interest (non in the worst case and shock, intrigue, and pleasant surprise in the best case). The whole set up also privileges the important people (with named seats) seated in the front row, as only these positions allow for a good (though not equally) view of the clothing being paraded down the runway. And people sitting more than 3 rows away are there for no reason other than for pure spectacle. But it is not that I don't enjoy the spectacle (as I have concluded to be the only reason I have to be at the show), just that clothing is not best enjoyed viewed from afar, but when worn and felt.
